Since the eighties Dan has been involved in the Musical side of sound. He started with mixing live concerts by artistes such as Freddie White and Mary Black. Recordings of these concerts found their way onto records and soon ‘DanDan’ was an in-demand Recording Engineer. This continues to this day in his own SoundSound Studio. Film and TV work has led to working with International stars such as Tom Waits, Emmylou Harris, and Amy Winehouse.
The IoA is the UK’s professional body for those working in Acoustics, Noise, and Vibration. The Institute has been active in the North of Ireland for some time, and in 2009 has started courses in Dublin. Throughout 2006 Dan studied under Prof. Bob Peters at the London HQ. In 2007 he was awarded a Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control, with Merit for his Project/Thesis.
IoA Certification is the de facto Professional qualification for Acousticians in Ireland and other EU countries. The Diploma qualifies the holder to perform legally recognised Noise Surveys. Such Surveys are useful in the case of disputes but more importantly form the basis for designed solutions.
